The Loomis method of building ahead from a basic ball is effective as far as it goes I think, but I’m pretty sure Loomis himself had done a huge amount of drawing from both life and photo reference, so expecting to be able to draw a head as well as Loomis does working only with this book would be a little optimistic I think.
